Title: A few questions on getting different headlights
Post by: Haribo! on 25 January 2013, 00:19
Im interested in a set of these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/volkswagen-golf-mk4-new-black-angel-eye-headlights-lexus-new-/160954074897?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item25799c4711

A few questions/worries though.

1. Will the headlight adjuster on the dash still work with them.

2. What bulbs are what? As in what lights up at what times?

3. A I going to end up spending more on bulbs than with standard ones over time because of the angel eyes and whatnot?

4. Are they 100% plug and play? I really don't want to have to feck about with them.

:)

Pretty sure for that money you could get anni headlights or almost even r32 xenons

And don't mean to sound rude but those look awful I wouldn't be paying 250 for that

I won't be paying that much, they're just the ones I was looking at. It's about 90 quid.

Just want some nice black/smoked lights. My golfs black and I like the blackout look.

Hey dya have any pics of how that looks? does it effect the light quality?

I'm not a fan of tacky, I'd prefer proper VW ones. Didn;t know about anni' so I'll have a look for some of them too.

It's not to hard I got it on eBay it's light tint headlit film or something there is a company that do specific to the car called lamin x but its a little bit more expensive.... It's not hard it's just a bit of a pain you really need to have some patience there is plenty vids on YouTube to see how it's done pal give it ago like I said for £10 it's worth a go

If you can't find genuine anni lights fk automotive do anni style ones for about 90quid. Or you could have a go at splitting yours apart and doing the joey mod.

Fk also do a set of projector headlights without the halo/ angel eye. So it looks more like OEM r32 lights. Have a look around to see what it is you want.

awesome!

I've found these:
http://www.fk-shop.de/en/Lighting-Tuning/Headlight/Headlight-Set-suitable-for-VW-Golf-4-type-1J-yr-98-03-black-RHD-LHD.html

And these:
http://www.fk-shop.de/en/Lighting-Tuning/Headlight/Headlight-Set-suitable-for-VW-Golf-4-type-1J-yr-98-03-black.html

I'm not sure which ones I should be going for, What's the difference? Will they still adjust from the dash? :/ mk2's were so much simpler :D

Get the ones with projector lenses, that way if you run HIDs you won't blind everyone. They will still adjust from the dash, and I've got no idea about the bulbs they take.

Quick picture of how mine look for you, I'll dig out a better one later:

I can confirm that they definitely work using the adjuster switch, in the picture below can you see the round white plastic bit with the hexagonal hole in the middle? The motor inside your existing headlights will fit into there

Using standard bulbs the output is ok, using a 4300k HID kit it's pretty good

I have 100W white bulbs. gonna need to ge different sidelight bulbs though, they came with the pack. All my lights are a nice bright white and then my sidelights are pretty blue which doesnt match and imo looks chavvy.
