+1 nice wheels just a fu*ker to keep lookin like that
-
They're nice ha even if I'm not sure what they are!
I'm goin to try and get the same treatment that lorry drivers get on there chrome, keeps them as clean as the day they were brand new! :)
-
put some kinda sealant on them before they go on the car , will help keep them at thier best.
-
Very nice  let the weather clear up before you get them on
-
Nice wheels bud advise you seal them before you put them on the car will make cleaning them a lot easier
-
Has anyone used a sealer on there wheels?
-
Has anyone used a sealer on there wheels?
I use Poorboys wheel sealant. You'll want some kind of protection on there, it'll make it a hell of a lot easier to keep them clean.
-
Poor boys is ok but if you want the best a lot of guys I know use this http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/gtechniq/c5-alloy-wheel-armour.aspx?gclid=CO29hLDjgbUCFdEfzQodMRYAIA
-
collinite 845 does a great job too , but as above C5 is best long term option.
-
With the C5 how much would i need? one bottle 15ml be enuf or best to get 30ml?
just wipe on wax off sorta carry on? ha
-
1 bottle you don't need a lot check YouTube I remember there was a vid of how to use it
-
What size of tyres are people running on there 8j front and 9j rear?
245/40?
-
 very nice alloys........ save them till spring
-
Def getting kept till better weather! where are you in scotland damien?
-
Since i got a few Forge bits are these the ones to get??

Def getting kept till better weather! where are you in scotland damien?
Aberdeen mate but thankfully I'm in Togolese waters enjoying 32 degrees heat!!
-
What size of tyres are people running on there 8j front and 9j rear?
245/40?
225/40/18's are what you want to keep the gearing / speedo correct.
-
For some reason im thinkin with it being a wider alloy i would need a wider tyre?
Also if i get 225/40/18s for rear on my "9J" wheels
What do my Front "8J" wheels need?
-
I had 215/40/18 on my 8j wheels which gave a slight stretch. Nod 225/40/18 on a 9j which gave a little more stretch.
-
so i want 225/40 on my 8j
And 235/40 on my 9j yes??
-
Depends if you want any stretch or not. Look in The maintained section for the tyre and wheel thread, there's a link to a site where you can type in different size wheels And tyres to see how they fit.
-
so i want 225/40 on my 8j
And 235/40 on my 9j yes??
225/40's all round will be fine.
-
Would I want stretch? Any benignity to having the 225 than the 235 wider not better?
-
I ran same spec wheels 225 on the backs 215 on the front. I had 225 on the front before and they are ok but if I remember it caught on the front when it was lowered right down. Also I liked the look of 215 on the front the stretch looked even with the backs
-
Image below is for a 9j wheel with a 225/40 tyre ET35. the orange square is the size of the new wheel and the black lines coming from the corners is how the tyre will fit.

Now 245 tyres

Now for the fronts

Other things to remember is if you are low on the rear a wide tyre may rub the arch so the stretched tyre will give clearance. And on the fronts the tyre may rub on the strut or coilover adjusters.
Also bigger tyres are more expensive so are the non popular sizes.
Heres a pic of my 9J ET30 wheels with a 225/40/18 tyre

I SEE! ha thats a pretty good explination!
Well i would want that same sort of look rather than a straight up tyre wall.
What tyres are people putting on i had toyo proxi's T1r's on my 16s but they were wearing down very fast!
-
SEALED wheels today!
a freind who is a car "detailer" came round and used SwissVax on them! recons there good for a year or more probably get them re-done before then!
Pics after sealed!
-
swissvax autobahn , good choice especially if he done it for free lol
-
He didn't do it for free.. But he did do it ha
35 bucks think that's no bad it was 30 for the bottle hah
-
did he let you keep the rest ? loads of coats from one tub
-
indeed! but he will be re-coating it i dont have the patience.
Also what wheel cleaner do you use after applying this? ph neutral?
-
just normal car shampoo will do the job easily
-
Got new tyres today!!!
Went for Falkens up front (i like my falkens)
and Marangoni's on the rear
The kwik fit guy ran his computer and the only LEGAL size he could put on was 225/40's so everyone on this was basically right ha
One problem.... the rear wheel doesnt go on the back it hits the rear brake caliper... im gonna need a 10mm spacer to make it fit, Anyone else have this issue?
P.s. post pics after i clean wheels up.. then there goin in my attic till better weather comes :( hate scottish weather! :undecided:
-
The rear caliper ? surely there is more clearance there than at the front ? ?
Thats mine with a 5mm spacer at the front only
-
i have different brakes on mine tho... wont sit flat, hits the rear caliper about 10mm in it... If you can imagine the front alloy on the inside where the bolts come through sits out alot more than the alloys for the back.. Also i have a different brake setup all around came with the car, finding discs was a bas**rd you can see the front brakes in one of my pics here.
ON A GOOD NOTEE!
Tyres on and looking mint!
