my wife has a 51 plate golf gti it has a cd compatible stereo but no cd player. Are there wires anywhere in the boot area to connect it straight in or is it more complicated than that? Cheers mark

Probably not, but have a search. Find a breaking mk4 and remove what you need.

There may well be wiring for a multi changer in the boot, left hand side. When I had my mk4 I had no changer but all the wiring, I bought a 6cd changer off ebay IIRC & it plugged straight in! Good luck

i thought it was standard on gtis ? mine has one in boot, dont use it though
-
No wasn't standard, if you had the Gamma it came with the single cd player above it and then boot cd changer was available to add as an option.
-
I'd be fitting the in dash changer instead. 5 minute job, easier to get to and looks good.

When I bought my Mk4 in 1999, a boot changer was a factory option. I think it was 2001 when they came with a single disc player up front. You then had the option to upgrade that for a six disc in dash changer, or keep the single player and have a boot changer as well
