My roof lining is sagging is it easy to remove the roof lining or a pain weres the best place to get a new lining from
-
Better condition linings are out there, but are fragile and difficult to post, unless you can travel to get a lining, I'd give it a miss...
Worth considering refurbishing the one that you have though, have a look http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=228522.0

The backing board isn't too bad to remove from the car, but usually is very brittle. just remove the the plastic trims, grab handles, and the trim fasteners, seat belts. Let the board rest on the front seats and then remove through the tailgate very slowly. once you have it out you can use a heat gun to peel off the old material. Then scrub the backing board down with a brillo pad to remove the old adhesive. Now you're set to put on fabric, vinyl, etc.

I found them extremely brittle round the sunroof and if I was to do another one I'd probably strengthen it with fibreglass first. Was like putting eggshell back in

i wanted to do this with my last mk2. i used some apholstery glue from work, but it only lasted until the warm weather. i was a bit dubious about taking the full thing out as i had heard how brittle they are.

The trim fix I used for mine (see link above has had no issues so far.

It's difficult to say what the best would be, but the fabric I used was great to work with, cheap to buy and best of all looks good

I would guess any material with a reasonable thickness to support the headliner backing and that had a little stretch to work into the shapes would be fine
