Title: What's the best paint to use on springs?
Post by: murraymint on 19 January 2013, 13:56
I have a set of coilovers that I've stripped to clean up, and some of the springs the paint has chipped off and they have some surface rust on them. I'm gunna shot blast and reapaint them. But what the best paint to use as I don't wanna paint them and them they flake off ina couple weeks. I know that powercoating them would be best. But any ideas?

I've painted some before, best is plasticoat type paint, but it was a quick job I did on a previous car, if you're going to trouble of shot blasting I'd go the powdercoating route, that will be a much longer lasting finish

I agree, powder coating would be your best bet!

Powdercoating is the best option, nothing else will last.

the thig is is it worth going to the effort of shotbalsting and powder coating ...  if the coilovers are the likes of hotuneing may as well buy another set for the effort involved.

i'd just leave them

Yh fair point Danny but there a shot blaster at work and I was gonna send them off with some other stuff to get powder coated so wonto cost too much
