Right my bro has a 1.6 SR Bora. He's slammed the arse out of it on coils. Other than that its mechanically standard.
He got problems.......
Its developed a rhythmic clunking/knock noise front near side that increases with wheel speed up to the point it becomes an inaudible drone. The noise apparently stops under braking :undecided: or with the clutch dipped  So its only under load huh?
It had some work done to that corner for the MOT (wishbone, ball joint, drop link). I suggested to him this is likely a CV problem.
He also mentioned it doesn't like coasting in gears, without juddering and jerking around? Gearbox mount or related to the knocking?
Any bright ideas peeps?

I've just reread that response, are you having a laugh or is that your 3 suggestions in a particular order (with no punctuation)?

Just to close this one out, it was the gearbox. It had a soddin great big hole in it where the diff had exploded. The hole was located after topping the oil up to the sound of it pouring out the bottom of the box. Another 1.6 turrrd gearbox failure against VW.
The Bora is since off the road waiting on a potential full engine replacement (upgrade)
