I've got a Mk2 with a single wiper conversion, but the wiper arm currently on the car has the wrong size hole (7mm) where it attaches to the pin, but the pin is around 5mm~6mm diameter, so no matter how hard I try, the splines just don't grip.
A little bit embarrassed to be stuck on such a simple task to be honest, I think I've over-thought it in all fairness - Well, that is to say that the motor and entire assembly is on the floor next to me, not in the car - No real need to take it out
Can anyone help me out? I found this http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/wiper-accessories/storm-single-wiper-straight-arm (http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/wiper-accessories/storm-single-wiper-straight-arm) but I think Google shouldn't have indexed it, as it doesn't show in the DT catalogue.
What I'm basically on the scrounge for is a wiper arm with a 5mm~6mm hole, and no longer than 18" in length, don't care about the condition, as I can prep and spray it. If you have one kicking about, would you be a gent? If you can help me find one online, then beer tokens due

Ah yes, and I do apologise if this is posted in the wrong place!
-
any idea on the manufacturer of the kit you got ?
-
Not a kit as such, it's a DIY, from this guide  http://home.online.no/~kseland/s_wiper.htm
-
trip down the the breakers at Berinsfield then and start a hunting me thinks
-
That seems to be the next logical step Chuff, and I almost refuse to believe that I can't get one online! :undecided: But yes, I need the car back on the road, so needs must!
-
good luck, - they will think you have lost the plot going measuring wiper arms
-
I got all of it bout 12 years ago which I think came from euro car parts. Never again, wasnt too good at its main purpose in life.

Euro car parts. Never again.
I know what you mean - Incidentally, I have a 25% off code for them (25% off for Briskoda.net Members), from a mate that has a Skoda. Interestingly lets you checkout products for ANY vehicle
Should I publish it? Don't see why not, but will wait to be told!
-
Interestingly, I got this back from DT, as expected :embarrassed:
Dear Mike,
Hello, unfortunately we have checked with our supplier and these items are no longer available. We have checked for alternatives and the choice is extremely limited, but please call our UK Sales Team on 0844 815 8630 to discuss options available, thanks DT.
Kind regards,
Demon Tweeks Team

Before you fit a new arm, you must chase out every last bit of aluminium from the splines, or the same will happen again! use a Stanley blade, and run the pointed end into the spline to clear...
When you fit the new arm, if possible, heat the end as hot as possible without damaging it, to expand the mounting point, fit and get the nut and washer on as fast as you can, as it cools, it'll become even tighter...
Then always make sure your wiper arm has not stuck to the windscreen with ice, before you operate your wipers...

And sorted it. Remember what I said about over thinking it - Well, that. I bought an original arm, and using a vice, I'll remove the kink which will allow it to do a full sweep.
What a load of drama for a wiper - Now all I need is for the snow to stop so I can crack on and plastidip the trim!

Before you fit a new arm, you must chase out every last bit of aluminium from the splines, or the same will happen again! use a Stanley blade, and run the pointed end into the spline to clear... I did this with a small wire brush - I had to as I previously used a rubber washer to get me home when it happened.

Thank you for this - Not immediately obvious, but makes perfect sense. This is a great tip!
Then always make sure your wiper arm has not stuck to the windscreen with ice, before you operate your wipers... Well said, I always tell people this, you'd be amazed at how many people simply don't check!!

Glad you got it all sorted
