Title: Rear window not de-misting

As the Title states, have a 98 MK4 GTI, 5 door with a back window that doesn't seem to demist when I hit the rear window button.......

Any suggestions????

what colour is the button when its pressed.

sounds like the wires have snapped.

believe the wires go down the N/S grommet from the roof to the boot. open the boot, remove the grommet, and pull the wires to find the snaped ones and re connect

have you checked fuses. 

if you have a meter and know how to use it, check the switch for voltage on the supply and load cable/s, thatl rule out switch, then check at your demister strip ( its basically just a big loop of heating element), if no power, check for continuity in circuit.

as above poster said, could be a break somewhere.
