Title: Luke's obd1 vr6
Post by: luke on 12 January 2013, 08:19
This post got deleted first time round, Friend was selling this so cheap that I just had to buy it, it's a 1995 obd1, in burgundy, 3 door, covered 116k, has h&r coilovers but rears have seized so coilovers from the mk2 will be going on temporarily, has recaro interior, printout for 179 bhp, has a few niggles including leaking radiator and switch on the drivers side for the window and possibly a relay as the indicators were playing up, has lots of paperwork with it

fixed the electric window problem, turned out to be a snapped wire, also fixed the indicator problem which was caused by corrosion in the rear light

Got to treat both the same
Think I'm just going to keep both and use the mk2 for summer then vr6 for winter but no doubt I'll change my mind, I want to dearch it if the arches are good, bit of lacquer peel on the roof

I think it's just the colour of the car that doesn't suit the arches and also want some new wheels for it but all in the future

Vr hasn't even been on the road yet due to the snow, gonna decide if its what I want to keep when it's on the road as I've always fancied a mk4 but insurance always stopped me but its 700 for mk4 and 900 for vr, although I have been offered a BMW e34 520i for the vr

The vr is staying, will be insured next week, quite surprised that my insurance only goes up £158 for the year from the mk2, got a few plans already for it so will see how it goes

I'm not too sure on what to do with the arches as they're pretty knackered anyway, comes out tomorrow and the mk2 will be going in the garage from now on

The sound is amazing, fuel consumption not so much, best I've had is 25mpg on my 4 mile journey to work and lowest of 8 when toying with my friends 3 series 325, which I'm surprised at the results, now the question is to vr6 the mk2 or 1.8t

25's not too bad from a VR bud, my 2.0 8v colour concept is returning on average 14.2 mpg

You must have a lead foot
Not really been driving this recently as I'm trying not to get attached as I'm after a mk4 gttdi or passat

Been offered some kerscher carmona alloys fairly cheap, which is making me question whether I want to get a mk4 or not as getting images in my head off my car low with the wheels on with colour coded bumpers and no arches, will be getting in contact with rtech next week as I'd like it scanned with the obd scanner as when cold in the morning it will feel like its slowing me down and see what power it's putting out as I'll be servicing it this weekend and giving it a good polish
