Title: DSG question
Post by: VWNOS on 11 January 2013, 22:13
Hi,

I picked up a 2012 GTI DSG a few weeks ago. Got it from a VW dealer with 9k on the clock.

Love the car. Absolutely no regrets getting it and the DSG is excellent. Question though - I notice it's slow changing down from 3rd to 2nd, mainly when the engine is cold / cold-ish. Imagine you're braking to turn into a slow left hand turn - the car drops down the gears smoothly, you turn into the corner, expecting it to drop into 2nd, and it's like the car can't decide whether to drop into 2nd or not, then there's a slight delay before it finally drops down and lurches forward cos you already had your foot down. Anyway, just wondering if this is normal? It's not stopping my enjoyment of the car, I just want to know whether or not to call the dealer!

Only thing I don't like is sound system (RNS510 with std speakers). It needs more bass so I may have to get an underseat sub.

Cheers, Noel.

My previous ED35 did this every now and then (wife driving in auto mode) Got dealer to look at this when it was serviced, no fault codes no update to software, tech report sent to the factory too. It didn't do it very much so wasn't a real issue for me as I tend to drive mine using the paddles (manual) so don't experience this kind of issue. However current ED35 hasn't done this yet after 1800 miles.

Thanks fellas. I'll keep my eye on it.

Today in the snow it was silky smooth!
