Title: Dirty Vibration
Post by: Adz Gti on 11 January 2013, 18:40
Guy's i need help asap, i've already been through 2 driveshafts. The problem is since i have had my golf lowered on JOM coilovers the front left wheel and what seems to be the driveshaft or track rod arm/end vibrates hard, at slow speed of say about 10/20mph is ok anything above it vibrates.

I've had the drivers side notched for future air ride and i've had the standard ARB cut out and the eibach ARB put in.

When checking 12-6 movements for bearing, it doesnt seem like it is, i'm not sure if should change the track rod arm/end and bearing. If this has happend to anyone, would be great to get some sort of help.

Does it sound like an intermittent knock?

errrm its like somethings hitting which is causing the vibration, however when my mechanic checked it, everything was fine, took the front axle off and couldn't spot anything that could have been hit  i fckn give up

My bet would be the Jom coilovers. Infamous or failing as the locknut comes lose and taps on the shock itself. I replaced mine last month and refitted with loctite.

what sort of noise, if its a whiring noise and gets more frequent with increased speed its your bearing, I changed mine two months ago and was so much better. Hard to tell without being more specific?

no whiring noise, it sounds as if there contact when turning right but left is fine, anything over thirty the vibration begins but theres no play in the wheel, hub im confused
