As topic above!I do read one write up before Vw golf mk3 vr6 is famous with worse handling vw golf and the VW know about this problem so the later year model vw golf mk3 vr6 suspension have been improve alot and the road holding of the late model vw golf mk3 vr6 road holding handle as what it should be, but no write up about this because the vw golf mk4 is going to take over vw golf mk3 at the moment. My question is it true the write up above? If yes What is the improvement done by VW?What need to be done inorder to improve the early model vw golf mk3 vr6?
Thank You.

Sounds like an urban myth to me to help shift the last batch of mk3's before the rrelease of the mk4.
-
Never heard that before...myth I also think.
If you want to improve a VR6 (or any Mk3 really) you need to fit some firmer dampers.
They are woefully under-damped as standard.
Most people laugh at the comedy ride height, so lowered springs and firmer dampers are the likely solution...the standard springs are a bit soft for a car with sporting intentions.
If you want to go further, then some uprated (thicker) Anti Roll Bars too. Eibachs work really well.
People used to rave about how good the Corrado VR6 was to drive...when in reality the difference between the Golf and Corrado wasn't that great.
Add -1 degree of negative camber per side at the front and the Golf improves hugely.
Strangely, fitting a set of £199 coilovers and dumping the car on it's sump will not transform it into a great handling car!

£199 coilovers and dumping it on its sump will make it even more of a pig.

I have heard / read that 1996 onwards VR's did have different spring / damper rates to the earlier cars but they are still poor as standard as are all mk3's tbh.
-
Bilstein/boge do uprated dampers for Mk3's along with firmer springs.
Lowering a car does not mean you improve handling, most of the time it just messes it up.
Vanity is the key driving force behind lowering.
As Glen said roll bars work a treat but are expensive and camber/castor adjustments can give good results too.
A Mk3 with the right additions handles very well indeed.

That old "heavy" VR6 engine again!
I weight 19 stone does that mean my 16V handles worse than anybody elses?
-
The vr engine is mounted too far forward hence why it handles worse than the Gti

Your heavy weight is in the middle so making it balanced all your doing is slowing it down.
Vr6 heavy engine is infront of the axles, very bad for handling.

If it does, it handles as badly as mine with me onboard!

must be a myth as VW only list 1 type of shocks and springs for all VR6 models.
b.t.w the mk4 didn't handle better! still over weight and too soft
