Thinking of selling my mk4 1.6 and getting an Audi A4. Thing is, I'm not too sure what to look for. I've found one that looks in good overall condition however it's done 106,000 miles. Is this a lot?
It's an 02 B6 130 sport so I'm guessing for a diesel it's not too bad a mileage though I'm unsure. It has full service history and is only £2,995! Sounds a steal :)
Are the 130's decent performance wise? Can I get it remapped and fit a front mount on it and wastegate etc? (I've always wanted one :P)
Anyone have experience with these cars?

My dad's had a couple of A4's now his last was a 03 plate and he currently has a 56 plate S-Line, great cars, high build quality, I wouldn't worry about the mileage I'd go for 1 or 2 owner cars, decent spec and well serviced, you'll be lucky to find any with low mileage for the price you want, my dad hands me the job of searching for cars for him each time, its hard work finding ones worth buying!

Thanks for the reply :) Yeah they seem pretty nice build quality! This one is one owner from new I think, I'm gonna have to call the insurance company first and see if they are gonna destroy me before going to even look at it though :angry:

being the 130 it should be a pd it should be fine is the service history dealer/specialist or back street garage as some back street garages dont put pd specific oil in them

Brilliant cars, my A4 b5 1.9TDI estate munches the miles loaded with all kinds of kit and never skips a beat (apart from I need to clean out the EGR so now and then it has a little 'blip') 140k and still going strong!

A 02 plate makes it nearly 11 years old, so 106k is about right for the average of 10k per year.
You'll find a lot of diesels with higher mileage as they're so popular as company cars, so finding one with less than 100k is tricky. It's slightly easier if you're looking at petrol A4s cos they're more likely to be privately owned.
The 130 means 130bhp, so that's enough to be getting on with. Easily remapped too.
My last car was the older (B5) A4 on a 1999 plate with 150k on the clock. Love the German build quality and the interiors are nice places to be.

Nice cars, but expensive and difficult to work on.
My dad's A4 had a few electric problems, so watch out.
Just make sure everything works as it should, especially central locking, there was a recall on these cars for blocked drain holes in the plenum, water would get in and ruin the central convenience control unit under the passenger seat, same as passat i think.

First thing I'd do is rip out the bung things they put in and cut the tail off. Hard to explain but no idea why they do it as they block all the time.

I removed these on the a8, luckily no control unit under passenger seat, as carpets were soaked!

I've just sold my Pd150 golf with 185k on it for fairly good money! As long as its serviced every 10k the engine will keep on going.
