Title: Airbag Error
Post by: MK6-Fan on 07 January 2013, 21:10
Today when I went to start up my car a 'pinging' sound sounded once (same as low fuel sound) & then a message appeared saying 'Airbag Error' - great.

So I didn't use the car as this put me off but after I left it a good few hrs & came out of work it didn't come up with the Airbag message but as soon as I opened the door a deep very brief 'buzzing' noise sounded.

I phoned my dealer & they say it is covered under warranty so it's booked in for Wednesday for them to check it.

Will they have to dismantle parts or just hook it up to a diagnostic machine?

Anyone else heard of this problem?

It's a 2012 Golf 'Match' 1.4 TSI.

Diagnostic Machine, I have found that if I put the key in and turn in all the way through without really giving the ignition time to settle it pings, have had ABS error which clears instantly. Scanned it and nothing showed up.

Did the airbag light stay on?

Did you have the lights in the on position that causes a buzzing I think.

To be honest, I didn't even look on the dash to see if the airbag light/symbol was up - I was that engrossed & alarmed by the warning that I only looked at the message on screen.

My lights were in 'auto' position so that seems an innocent normal mode so not sure it was anything to do with that??

Fair enough, worth checking to see if the lights still on.  Auto won't produce the buzzer as its used to coming home lights.
