Hi people.
Local tuner has just started doing a postal stage 1 remap for the 1.8t vag engines for half the price of a standed re-map.
But how do these work?obviously u just post ur ECU off to them but how can they take in to account the mods on the car and so on??do u then have to get the car rolling roaded and so on so might aswell just pay for a full remap in the 1st place??
Still thinking about getting it done though.

my mates literally just place on one of those bluefin jobbies on the 09' GT TDI - and he loves it - he just downloaded the software and it took like 10 minutes.
still.. i'd rather go to a decent performance garage and grab all the knowledge you can - I.e. what remap is right for you and accompanying mods to go along with it.
-
Just go for a proper remap, better bet all round.

theyre ok, just cheap and cheerful really. i did a blacksmoke remap on a golf tdi 110 with a few other mods and its exellent! not the best but for £45 you cant moan
-
It may be cheap but its not going to take into account any engine issues or modifications so far from ideal.
-
It will be a generic map will be set up for another car ,won't be amazing but will be something
They got a website ?
-
Whats going to happen when the remapped ECU popped your engine because the tuner couldnt check it over properly.
Recipe for disaster

Exactly why R-Tech withdrew their postal map service. They'd rather have the car in front of them to map them indivdually for the best results

We also offer a postal service but honestly I hate doing them as its normally people that want to save money (nothing wrong with that in the current climate) but anyone in this trade will know, that type of customer normally brings a host of other problems with it.
It's a good way to save money and as long as YOU are confident that your car is issue free, then go for it. We offer 1.8T and PD 1.9 (EDC15) Postals for £125 inc return postage.
