Title: oil leak :(

I have noticed an oil leak on my mk4 1.8t agu.... Not sure where its coming from. Not loosing lots of oil but loosing enough.. Lost about a litre in just over a month.. By the smell of it its burning a bit of it too.... Any ideas on what it could be.. I know its not much to go on but looks like it is coming from round the back of the engine.

The best thing to do is get the car on a ramp and have a good look around the usual culptits such as the sump, oil filter housing and oil pump. If its losing a litre a month it should be obvious where its coming from. If the engine is filthy then you might have to get it steam cleaned to pinpoint the problem.

I have tried to see where it's coming from but the engine if filthy... Taking it down my local garage next week so they can find the problem.

I had this same annoying problem. After removing the plastic covering on top of the engine I found the breather pipe to the far right had a huge hole in it.

mine hasa leaky rocker cover. not good as leaks into coilpacks :( on the list to do though :D
