Hello all looking to get a mk5 gti or ed 30.
Is there a lot of difference between the two to justify the prices.
Also what's the best manual or dsg?
And mpg what do you guys get?
More questions to come
I'm from Oxford so if anyone sees any local let me know thanks

Lots of info on the net on the ED30, just been through this decision myself.
There are lots of road tests on the Edition 30 ( Auto Express, Pistonheads etc )which were written when the car was launched, these explain the differences.
Some cosmetic, main changes are to the engine components ( larger injectors etc ) and larger turbo ie its quicker !
Manual or DSG is down to personal preferences.
I spent about 3 months looking for the right car, considered a GTi but decided on the Ed30 as it is that bit extra special and should hold its value better.
I get 28mpg around town and 35 mpg on a run in my ED30.
BTW Its a great car.

Maybe get a R32 there cheap now

DSG absolutely superb to use... but more expensive to service and also repair it goes wrong.

I do 60 miles a day in my Ed30, mix of dual carriageway and town driving, and I average 32mpg. Mine is also remapped to 280bhp, if anything ive noticed a slight improvement in fuel efficiency
