Hi I bought a stage 3 apr turbo kit the other day but the kid didn't seem sure on what stage it was I have tried to put the tag number of it in google but can't seem to find it. :sad: can anyone help me please here's the number. Gh0146j 14411 69f00 466541 7001 z.

Stages dont really matter...what one person thinks is stage 1, 2 or 3 is somoene elses view of that stage.

^^ What he said, just get it fitted and then get a custom map somewhere, they will take all the mods into account

Yea that's the plan but I just wanted to know what turbo I had as there are 3 from apr it could be upto 300 bhp/360 and around 400 so a lot of difference. Thanks for the quick reply tho

You need to know what they have changed from standard to determine what it is capable of, as you dont know that, as the others have said get it fitted and then when its dyno'd they will tell you what they can get out of it.
Also bear in mind that you need a lot of supporting mods to get the most out of the turbo in the first place

I have most the things I need for it just wanted to know if the turbo will be any good for when I get a 4 motion to put my engine in that's all I'm only looking at around 300 bhp for now. Thanks anyway

All he wants to know is what the turbo actually is and what it is capable of
Just like having a k03 which is capable of 210bhp max and havig a gt28rs capable of 360+
Apr have different sized turbos with different flow capabilities
So it's no good him doing mods suitable or 300bhp if his turbo is rated for 400.... Or opposite (eg size of maf etc)
All I could think of doing is going on google or looking at pictures and find what it's marked up as

Thanks. I have tried google and can't find the tag number and have looked at the apr site at all the pictures and they use the same few pictures so still can't be sure. :sad:

If its from IoW then its my old one, which it probably is. It was technically a stage 3+. The first in the country.
It is a GT28RS, aka disco potato. Its modded from standard marginally, i think just the intake lip and waste gate. Check the waste gate as it broke after i sold the car.
It was running 340bhp (350bhp on one RR run). That was its max and it ran this for 60,000 miles. APR will likely be reluctant to help as there were several turbos used and several mods made but they were not keen to divulge info to avoid people buying their kits second hand and copying bits etc. As its old (the 1.8T set up) they may be more helpful. Worth a post on their site on SeatCupra.net - they always responded well on that to me.
If it was mine, it served me well. dont be alarmed if it screams at you on full tilt!
I believe that even with higher octane fuel and intake mani mods similar spec turbos did not produce more power by th way and 350bhp is garretts quoted figures for the GT28RS (from memory).

Don't know did you have a TT I bought it of a kid who didn't put it on his car I have the manifold injectors down pipe and intake pipe work and the apr fuel pump. Cheers for the info

There's a bloke on vortex I think that got 390 bop with an apr intake and bigger tab think he hd methanol as well.

No it doesnt sound like mine. I sold my golf to a lad in isle of white who has stripped it :cry:
Check the mani - mine rotted on the inside.
Check the downpipe flexi - mine wore through. The lad on here has a new mani and DP for a lot less than I paid a few hundred miles ago if you do need them.
They 390 bit - comes back to original question of exactly what turbo it is! Sorry, cant help anymore but I would be suprised if thats a real world 390 as they were small ish turbos to suit the 1.8t. Have a look on garrets wed site, its very helpful.

The manni looks fine but not sure if the down pipe is apr but I just put a 3 inch on mine was gonna see if I can modify it to fit as is bigger than what came with it. Not sure what the injectors are but have seen them on the apr website but they don't look like mine so unsure wether they'll fit. Thanks very much for the response I looked on the garret website there's a bit where you put in the part number but the tag one doesn't come up with anything. Thinking wether to change the rods and just see what a map comes up with. My tb broke where cable goes round so was thinking of trying to find a vr6 tb to put on.

After looking at apr's american website and a few searches on other forums, the only hardware difference I could find between the stage III and III+ kits were the injectors, the stage III kit uses of the shelf injectors, the III+ kit uses 'custom' injectors made specifically for the kit.

The turbos are different the stage 3 uses a gt2860 r the plus a gt2860rs and the Audi TT plus uses a gt2871r each being an upgrade to the previous. I will try to give them a call tomorrow see what they say.
