As the heading says my coilpack (furthest right under the plastic box) went on fire and after my ecu isn't taking any readings and car wont start, from what the mechanic says the ecu is f***d.
Soooooo.. Whats the story with a new ecu??
Get one for a AUQ and buy Vagcom?
Anyother suggestions?
-
Fixed any shorted wires?
Can you get to it with vagcom with ignition on only?
-
Yes i had to re-wire a coilpack connector as the one connected to the coilpack that burned also burned..
i dont have vagcom myself thats why i was asking if i should buy it to code another ECU to the car?
Not reading anything atall is what my freind at the garage is saying.
Do i need to get a AUQ ECU or can i use a AUM?? I know theres a difference but does it matter if i have to re-code it using vagcom anyways?
-
ALSOO ha
Had a look on the ross-tech site and the cagcomdotcodotuk site and is there any difference or can i just get it from the british dealer as it gets here faster?
Any help would be braww

you'll need more than vagcom to do an ecu swap on your car an AUQ will be immo3 so you'll need the pin code for the immobiliser. Have the garage checked that the ecu is getting power where it needs it? I had a similar thing on a seat arosa last year and the coilpack issue had popped several fuses so the ecu was getting no power.
-
yes all fuses seem to be fine. what else will i need to swap the ecu? and does anyone have one?
-
Will need vag-tacho.
-
What does that do that vag-com cant? and can i use a aum ecu? or only auq?
-
AUM would work, but you would be 30bhp down.
-
but surely after I get it remmaped again with the revo 2 it would be same power yeh?
