Ok, a bit confused. I've read a number of times that a ASZ 130 tdi turbo would fit to an Ibiza/ golf/ A3 however I have bought one recently but seems to have a different outlet position to the one that's been removed:
One removed: notice the outlet (where turbo pipe fits) top left

ASZ replacement: outlet top right

Can someone enlighten me please? Is one of them not an ASZ or there different types?

Can you not just undo the bolts and rotate it??

Ok silly question, but would it be as simple as that?
Would I need to change any gaskets etc?
-
no you won't need to change gaskets to do it. As Rio says it look like the compressor housing has been rotated for some reason
-
Had a quick look and not sure which bolts to remove to rotate it...? :(
-
get some pics of the back of the compressor housing and I'll see if I can point them out
-
If you have a look at the back of the compressor side you'll see 6 bolt with large washers on them, loosen these and you should be able to gently turn the compressor into the correct position, then tighten them back up of course!
-
Not the greatest pic I know but only one I have on my phone.
Bolts on left or right in the pic?

if all the oil lines and stuff line up ok just the bolts on the right.

Yes they seem to line up all ok. Will double check again but this was the only difference I noticed.
-
Not a turbo off a Passat/A4/A6 is it?
-
It may be, although was told its off a golf
What difference does that make?
-
The engines are longitudnal not transverse, which may explain the difference in orientation.
-
Ok, unfortunately another dilemma - had a closer look at the manifold and the bits highlight are in different positions. Does this mean it won't fit (even after being able to turn the turbo to the correct position)?
Red is replacement, blue is the one removed from the Ibiza

Y not swap the manifolds over surely that would work
-
Been told the pipe that connects to it is flexible so should flex to fit. Failing that I will do an EGR blank. £3 or £4 off eBay and better for the engine too.
-
Id do the egr blank personally. Id imagine it would need mapping out though?
-
depends what one it is. seeme the earlier ones are ok withit whereas the later ones tend to have a bit of a fit
-
Why would they need mapping out?
-
On later cars it throws up the engine management light and in extreme cases, limp mode.
-
Mine is a 55 plate (2006) what's the likelihood of that?

What car is this going into? An Ibiza??
Most likely throw up a warning light.
-
Yes it is. Is there a way around this?
Hmmm... Perhaps better off trying to get it to fit first?

If its an Ibiza you have a smaller diameter gasket as standard which Golf owners tend to fit to their cars to cure the infamous PD stutter
Id send it back and buy one you dont have to fcuk around with
