I decided as Santa want getting me much this year that I'd go and treat myself to a new TV, to which I bought the 42" LG LM640T. Cracking TV and bought for a good price, but then a few days later the 47" model is reduced by £250 so I thought I'd buy that instead.

FIT!... Some serious pennies spent on that cinema room set up as well.
It's all back in boxes just now...I've had the joiner in (luckily a good mate of mine) doing a revamp on the cinema room.
Building a cupboard to house the kit and one of the Subs, building all the front speakers into the wall, TV into an alcove, wall lights, 150m of new speaker cable, network cables to all kit and all the cabling in for the projector.
Should have it done in a couple of months

Utter win haha Is the Harmony 1100 good? always fancied it
Yeah, it's great.
Takes a bit of setting up to get it spot-on...but wouldn't be without now.
I'm using the 1100 for IR in my living room with the lights switched via the RF repeater, and the other way round in my Cinema Room (lights via IR as I can see the light switch, and all the equipment in the cupboard via the optional RF extender/IR blasters.
I grabbed them when they were on offer from Logitech's web store.

I've got the Harmony 515, cracking little remote

I would love to spend serious money on an amazing set-up, but I don't have it so I won't lol...
re: Soundbars...great if you don't have the room, and a million times better than the speakers you get in flat screen...I still remember when my old sony crt 32" dolby pro logic tv broke, (after a mate and I gave ourselves hernia's removing it,) and I was able to carry my first flat screen (lg 32") in on my own lol ... what came out of the speakers sounded bloody awful! i mean awfl! no bass...depth or anything worth hearing! but at the time a decent sound bar was £250-£300...I was able to buy a second hand sony 6.1 dts amp, plus speakers and a sub and cable for under £200...and it sounded great...so if space isn't an issue...buy an amp and speakers and enjoy real surround sound..just my opinion...
-
I bought the parts for a full 5.1 surround set up for less than the cost of a decent sound bar as well. Understandable that they're great for when room is at a premium though.
-
Samsung 32" tv... had it about 4 years and was about 350 quid on sale when i bought it! crazy how prices change...
Logitech X-540's, love them but cheap so nothing spectacular, survived having a bottle of baileys over them at a house party though.
Xbox 360 Slim
Sky +
i5 2500k PC

I agree totally.
A proper 5.1 system will always sound better...but I had a full surround set up in another room so made a concious decision not to have cables, speakers and extra pieces of kit in my living room.
Nearly £1000 would have provided a damn fine amp/speaker set up...but the soundbar does a pretty good job of it all things considered.
It needed a decent sub though (or two  ).
As good as a proper set up? No.
But far easier to get 'approval' for in a living room.

This (http://www.wackyarchives.com/featured/most-expensive-home-entertainment-system.html) guy does.
That's a crazy setup. Note that it was 4 years ago. I wonder what it looks like now.
Here's an interview with the guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KptVIB1KYpk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KptVIB1KYpk)
Things to note:
* the messy cabling (not shown in the other photos).
* power transformers outside so he gets the cleanest ("NASA-grade" supply)
* $1000 per month electricity bill
-
Still on my LG 37" LED I bought almost 2 years ago and an XBOX for multimedia (iPlayer, 4OD, 5 demand, NowTV etc). I don't watch a great deal of TV so don't see the point in paying for Sky/Virgin. Still got to mount the TV and XBOX up on the wall now we've moved but CBA
-
42" panasonic plasma. Outstanding tv had it a couple of years and still love the HD picture its perfect.

Yeah I found it ages ago at work but always seem to post it when these sort of topics come up....
right now what's everybody's address?
-
Nothing as fancy at mine.
26" LCD - bought 5 years ago, still working fine, no reason to change it. Don't have any HD sources that "need" a bigger TV.
Sony DVD player
Humax Freeview PVR
Pioneer 5.1 surround amp
Yamaha surround speaker set: small speakers and powered sub.
The space that our TV sits in (between wall and chimney) is very small so you could only fit a 36" tv in there anyway and we'd then have issues of where to put the surround speakers. None of the positioning is ideal though due to the small living room.
I'd love a cinema/tv/music room, but apparently kids need bedrooms.
-
Just moved the lounge around an the TV is a lot further from the sofa now. TV is looking SERIOUSLY small!!
