Title: Heated Seat Woes *Fixed*
Post by: benjy_b on 28 December 2012, 01:06
Having fitted heated seats to my CL Estate, I'm havin dramas with their operation.

Can someone explain their operation?

Currently:

Drivers seat switch clicks loudly between 0-1 but you don't hear the relay engage until betwen 4-5.

Passengers seat switch doesn't click loudly between 0-1 but you hear the relay engage, no noise from the relay between 2-5.

Drivers seat gets nice and toasty.

Passengers seat doesn't get warm.

Finally, does anyone have a wiring diagram for the heated seats?

Hmmm, I think I've sussed the relay noises.

Passenger seat was cold, therefore thermistor switches seat on straight away.

Drivers seat was warm, therefore thermistor switches seat on between 4-5.

I think I have a broken passenger element

Right first thing I would do is swap the relays round to rule them out.

Then I would do swap the seats round to rule the wiring to the dash out.

Then you will know the fault lies with the element (which it know doubt will be).

Managed to fix the fault!

Turned out to be a broken element, just on the left passenger seat bolster. I soldered it and protected the joint with heat shrink. Now working like a good 'un!

What a pain in the a** it is to get the seat cover off the foam base!
