haveing a bit of a remodel in the workshop and adding a few new toys,
now seems that the computers are in pritty much constant use and for some jobs it would be nice to see the screens from further away and when actualy working on things, obvious answer is bigger screens from a quick look around i'';m thinking the best soultion is going to be a couple of big LCD TV's but then keep thinking about vidio projectors as they have come down in price but not used one for years
any thoughts ?

Video projectors are best in darkened rooms, projecting onto clean white-ish surfaces (tricky in a workshop).
Projectors also have fans that will draw in dust and dirt and you'd have to keep dirt off the lens.
Projectors are best with moving images, displaying a fixed GUI on screen for hours will not do it any favours and when the bulb goes it's expensive to replace.
Projectors are also more likely to be nicked, even ones bolted to the ceiling with metal pipes get cut down by pikeys.
LCD TV is probably your best bet if you want a large image but not too high a resolution. If you want a higher resolution, then you'll want a proper LCD monitor.

screen area is going to be more inportant than resolution i think. i see your points about vidio projectors
main uses are basicly just going to be various tchnicl programs, and hopefull come the end of feb i'll have a dyno going in so bung the data from that up on them

We use a 50" pioneer plasma monitor at work run off an old terminal with a switching box for direct laptop input, works a treat for presentations and 3D software display
All in it cost us £150
