Title: How do you replace the dipstick guide?
Post by: general_piffle on 27 December 2012, 19:34
Was checking the oil tonight and the plastic collar that keeps the dipstick in place snapped. It was a clean snap and they seem pretty flimsy so I'm guessing this happens from time to time!

Here's the replacement part from fleabay, questions is how do I take the old one off and fit the new one?!

Cheers!

Why on earth are these 'guides' made out of brittle cheese? It was broken on my old MK3 and stayed broken until I sold it.

My current MK3 is very clean and original so this part has only just broken but seriously when I looked at it after it broke it was obviously a really cheap piece of plastic with lots of weak points and potential for snapping...
