Title: mk3 gti squeeky fan belt
Post by: speaight123 on 26 December 2012, 21:14
Got an awful squeeling coming from the engine, how difficult is it to change the belt? Or can I just adjust it?

Don't GTi's have an electric fan?...mine does...  :undecided:

Mine has a squeaky squealing noise, think it's my Alt or PAS pump, or belts going to them...

Did you have problems with your battery recently? Could be the alternator on it's way out?

Try and tighten it first or replace the belt.

They call the pas pump and alternator belt a "fan belt" but it doesn't do the fan just a name

Check for any cracking in the belt ect and check tension , I think 1/4 turn in belt is acceptable ?
