what is the best airfilter/inductionk kit for the 1.8t? a aftermarket panel filter or a cold air feed like a CDA? thanks
-
R32 dsg intake system, smoothed air box and mod inside housing and fit velocity stack at maf with piperx filter. Sorted.
-
Ebay kits are ok but use a better cone filter or if you can stretch to it then a Carbonio kit is awesome.

+1

Ebay CAI wins it for me.
-
Cone filters have been shown to give to best gains. R-Tech do a heat shield and piperX filter for £120. Niki uses this as it's what he got the best gains on.
-
Panel filter works well for me, same bhp figure with and without an airbox :afro:
-
What's a velocity stack???

What's a velocity stack???
Its meant to increase effiancy of a air filter by optimising the flow of air. It looks like a metal squished funnel adaptor

Have a look at

An induction kit wont make any gains but they make a  noise

Agreed, my vRS on the carbonio kit was awesome.
-
Induction kids do make a gain it's be proven on RR's. If your worried about the heat buy a good heat sheild, cold air feed and FMIC. How can a standard air box flow as well as a cone filter?
-
what is that davemk4? sorry to sound dumb lmao isit the end of a cold feed pipe? :S

-
it was on the car when i picked it up - although the receipt says £255 - bit pricey but does look the nuts and is coupled with a turbo back Miltek and wow - lovely purrrrrrr
-
 pricey. Im looking to make my own using a pipercross cone filter and sourcing some heat shield
-
yea its pretty expensive - i dont think i would pay that much either but as they say..... when in Rome :)
-
It's all about the DIY
Although mine is more like a water/heat shield

Can get proper heat shield on ebay 25.00 thats what im getting
-
you can get a heat shield for your cone from sainsburys for £10.50 in the form of an Heineken Keg.

Hmmm surely a heat shield that seals the filter from the hot air rather than just covers it from te radiant heat is better though :undecided:
-
Seens some on the bay for 12 quid
Even with that shield i would not put filter that close to the front bumper :lipsrsealed:
-
I've never had any problems
And even if I did it would be a good excuse to rebuild the engine and fit uprated rods
-
its all about custom lol

I like that good thinking!
This is the R-Tech sheild and filter.

You have to go to them and get it custom fitted. In the winter it's the only part of you bonnet that doesn't defrost. I stole the photo but I'll replacing my P-Flow with one when I get mapped at R-Tech.
-
Do you know if they sell the sheild seperate?
-
i like the r tech one but i wanted a kit to buy but they wouldnt sell direct only fitted me want it now lol

Just wrap the ebay one in vinyl, will look loads better.
-
Ive got the aluminium ebay one, it fits okay but the finish is pretty awful. I just gave mine a key with some wet and dry and gave it a coat of matt black. It looks 100x better.
-
Good idea good paint before fitting
-
If your feel flush there's always the 42 Draft Design filter, velocity stack and shield.
http://www.42draftdesigns.com/categories/products/in_mk1tt_hfis.html
Bill at B5 also doses a plastic velocity stack or billet with filters to match.
-
That filter set up looks fantastic
-
I have got a really good setup just need to make my own heat shield and fit my other bits and bobs, basically i got a HUGE cone filter from ram air (will require a custom made heat shoeld by me) its got an 80mm then i added a 70mm reducer onto my maf, i plan and making a custom heat shield, then adding my cold air feed and ensuring its all nicely blocked up, when its all finished i will post up pictures but i still got my anni rear, silicone pipes and lights to fit just can't find the time :( but for now here is a poc my my folter as she is atm.
