silly one i know but should the up shift light come on in 5th? if not how do you fix it (83 8v).

it will still come on in fifth. My 91 16v doesn't have one but the one on my 86 jetta was vacumm controlled and came on when engine vacumm reached a certain point. it still came on in fifth but i had to have the poor old girl just about topped out. :) it was a diesel though
