Title: possible boost leak query
Post by: NERF 69 on 22 December 2012, 19:18
I fitted a boost gauge not long back and Theres a possibility that its not sealed 100% where i plumbed it in. The question is could that cause a drop in fuel consumption and ifso by roughly how much?

Thanks

it would drop the fuel consumption as youll be getting your toe down more to achieve the same speed. look at your gauge and see what its boosting at, then compare it to what it should be.
are you getting excessive black smoke as this is usually an indicator theres a leak

If you are getting a tiny leak I don't imagine it would make much difference...Black smoke would be a good indiction of a boost leak.

Ok thanks.  My fuel consumptions dropped alot thats all Dont think ive got excessive black smoke but my 1 mile commute which id get 40+mpg (according to the computer) is now reading 20-28 mpg. Must be the change in temprature i hope

A 1 mile commute...Seriously?  :lipsrsealed:

You won't get good MPG out of a 1 mile trip anyway.
