I've just had troubles with R reg Mk3 Golf last night and this morning. It doens't seem to want to start. It turns over fine, but just doesn't seem to be igniting. would like to know if anyone could give some advice to what it could possibly be, or what i could do to help the fix the problem?
Thanks Harry

Check the basics.
Is a spark getting to the plugs. Take one out and plus it in the HT Lead. Crank it over and see if you can a fat spark then you know you've no issues there. Whilst it is out, take a good look as your spark plug will indicate how well or bad how badly the engine is running.
Check the rotor arm and the distributor cap and ensure they are not damp.
If you know how, you can check to ensure you're getting fuel supply as you should be able to smell it when cranking over.
No joy on either then you need to look at Hall sensor, fuel and or ECU relays.
Alternatively, if you belong to RAC or similar use them !
Good luck

Sounds like a good case of ignition coil fail.

Or it could be the lead from the coil to the distributor.
