Post by: Ralphy_GTI on 20 December 2012, 06:56
Ive had a engine replacement and my new engine is running at 70k whereas my dashboard says 150k, Is there a way to reprogram the dash to 70k?

Yes it can be done but I wouldn't do it.      Why do you want to do it?

The odometer indicates how many miles the vehicle has covered, not the engine.

Just consider fully the implications of wanting to do this.

I would leave the clocks as they are, just make a note of the engine change

As above. It will show up on MOTs and will put potential buyers off if you ever go to sell the car. It could also land you in a bit of trouble if you get pulled and a copper wants to be picky as it's essentially clocking

Also it can't be done with VAG COM, only VAG Tacho

A car with 100k and a engine done 1k doesn't make a difference, so no don't change mileage as said above just keep record in with paperwork pref with receipt for engine if you can. You should also change engine number with DVLA.
