Title: 2.3 V5 advice.
Post by: Pez on 19 December 2012, 22:44
Recently been looking at buying a 1.8T and now that I have the funds I can't see any that I like. Now I've just come across a golf 2.3 v5 on an 02 plate (170ps), can anyone give me some reviews or opinions on how they drive in comparison to a GTI turbo, will it still put a smile on my face? I love the exhaust note but someone said the suspension makes it like steering a ship. Thanks Pez.

Ma brothers got a V5.. his one sounds great, its got a beautiful tone to the exaust but it is slightly sluggish on pick up but i think a remap could easily fix that..

Dont bother with v5. Get yourself a v6 same mpg as v5 and way more fun and the noise is awesome. Or get 1.8t and map it you should see 190-210 out of it

I would pick a 1.8t over a V5 anyday, V5 is not that tuneable plus heavy on fuel.
