I am Looking to remove my air con system and wandering if anyone knows what belt size i can use for a 1.8t aum? Or even better a reg I can use at Ecp to get it? (Is it an agu that has no a/c)
Will there be any problems in terms of warning lights and will there be enough tension in the belt seeing as the a/c pulley is removed between power steering and alternator pulleys?

There will be no problems with warning lights

just ring euro car part ask the for a aux belt for your mk4 golf 1.8t and its a non air con model, there about £9-£13.

Cheers guys
Does anyone know if it will slip or not as the belt won't have as much contact with the alt and p/s pulleys as the a/c pulley is no longer there to pull the belt in, if that makes sense?

It will be no different from the non aircon version from factory. The slack is taken up by the tensioner anyway. Belt wrap is more or less the same. If you look where the aircon pump is and imagine it gone with a shorter belt you can quite easily see how the belt should run.

I removed my aircon too, just asked for a non aircon aux belt at TPS. AGU/AUM belts are the same. it's aircon or non aircon that's the difference.
Belt wrap is SLIGHTLY less, but I've not had any issues with it yet and no audible slip at all

my air con went soon as i brought my car
