Hi all
I have a problem with my VR6, in which when it fires on cold start i get one backfire as it starts, and it is quite loud!
The car itself runs fine when started, and runs absolutely fine in the warmer months and only seems to have developed this fault since it has been cold, whats more the revs don't idle too much below 900-1000 rpm as well.
Anyone have any suggestions?
I am picking my new car up in January so don't really want to spend too much money on it, will be selling it very cheap soon.
Thanks
David

Sounds like an over fueling issue. does it fail to start then bang?
-
Fuel pump relay would be my first try

Go with what's been suggested first, I've had this caused by a blocked/duff injector before.
Worth plugging into a code reader.

coilpack

A whole host of possibilities!
If i turn the key to start it, it will die unless i start it with a the accelerator pushed a little to give it a little rev, then it stays started, slightly higher revs but goes bang as well.

You seem very confident?

And I assume you mean ignition coil pack?

Mine would fail to start and the exhaust would replicate a shotgun
But I had/have fuel pump issues. Coilpack anf spare work and brand new genuine pump relay
