Hi,
I have just joined this forum as a Trade Advertiser and wanted to make you aware of our company, LWS Design. We are a specialist Carbon and Composites company that has been manufacturing Carbon and Fibreglass parts for mainly Lotus and some VW cars for just over a year.
A couple of months ago we were given the opportunity to purchase almost all the moulds from Performance Trim, the company that used to supply a large number of Carbon Parts.
Please have a look at our website which is www.lwsdesign.co.uk and happy to answer any questions you have but we can supply to name just a few things, Carbon Bonnets, RoofSkins, Tailgates, Door Trims, Spoilers and Spats!
Please let me know if you have anything in mind and happy to offer Forum Members 10% off our website prices until January.
Any queries just ask through the site or PM me...
Thanks,
Andrew

Thanks,
Andrew

He'll have you for that!
Anyhoo, what sort of build times on a Fibreglass MKII Golf roof skin? I'm in Basingrad so I can collect to save on the old postage hassle.

Shame you didn't pop up 6 months ago when my work was sourcing a fibreglass shell and panels for an élan !
What parts can you do on an élan ?
I'm sure it will soon be in a gravel trap at brands in many pieces .....
-
Don't suppose you allow the moulds to be rented?

Hi Andrew,
Right, I'm sold but don't worry about pushing the boat out to get it done for this weekend because I'm not going to be able to get down and collect anything until the weekend between Crimbo and New Year at the earliest.
I'll give you a buzz tomorrow when I'm on my lunch and we can have a chat about it all.
Cheers,
Nick

No problem at all, might be best to email at info@lwsdesign.co.uk or give me a call on 07980 859857
Regarding renting the moulds, sadly not they as you can imagine are very precious to us and one scratch or any damage would render the mould useless for perfect products...im sure you would take good care but if sure you understand our risk is too great.
Thanks

Ordered
-
No mk3 shiz....shock
I need to sell up :lipsrsealed:
-
how stiff are the bonnets ? also do youo do wings for mk2
-
Sorry for late response, been travelling all day! amazing how a 3 hour flight can take all day travelling!
The bonnets are stiff, they do have more flex in them than the standard bonnet but they are very strong and in particular when the full carbon option is made then it is quite strange to handle them as they are so light yet large and feel very sturdy....but light!
-
See I am tired, even missed a question, sadly we do not currently have the Mk2 Wings, as with any product if there is enough interest then we can produce but to justify the time typically we need 5 orders for the carbon product before we can justify making the mould.....and supply of the perfect wing to mould from!
-
may give you a call about bonnets in the new year, as for wings id be after two pairs but probaly unlikely you'd get another 3 orders by the time i need them
-
Could try a group buy :-)
-
No going back now!

Suppose now you want your roof :-)
-
I dunno, I was thinking maybe just a sheet of perspex or even a full length fabric sunroof?
Still got a ton of prep work around the hole to sort out yet.
-
I know a company that has some rolls of carbon....you could drape that in there :-)
-
Do you do wing mirror covers for a 57 plate Audi A3?
One which replace the actual cover and not stick over the top
-
Hi,
Sadly we do not have any mirror covers at the moment although we are aware there is some demand for these so we are currently looking into making some mould but with so many models on the market it is hard to know where to start... Will keep everyone posted if we do extend the range in this area.

Thought you might find this story interesting. Lewis Houben who owns LWS Design is a VW guy through and through, he has created many Mk2 Golfs ranging from one of the first VR6 Conversions many years ago to a crazy rear wheel drive VR6 Turbo Rallye and also this one which was based on the 1.8T Engine and was an absolute weapon..
Interesting coverage here on the Carbon panels which were bought from Performance Trim, This was this car that gave Lewis the bug for infusing Carbon after seeing and fitting the performance trim panels, little did he know a couple of years later he would own the old performance trim moulds and be producing his own panels.
The attention to detail on this car gives you an idea to how Lewis views the work he does in Carbon.
The last comment about the Lotus is well underway and we will be posting pictures through the Facebook page very soon, it will be a fully carbon bodied Exige powered by the 1.8T engine which will have a power to weight ratio to make your eyes water!
