If I service my car my self will it effect my service history as it would leave a gap in my service book I'd obviously keep all receipts & where can I find out what bits I'd need for my model ?

I did the servicing on my own Golf and kept all the receipts. Stuff like cambelt etc I had done in a garage.
It never affected my resale value

I've always done my own and filled in the section in the book with notes and then kept receipts from parts etc. in a plastic wallet with date and mileage marked on the front.
Shows what's been done with proof etc. Probably more reliable history than some random garage stamp that can be bought from anywhere !

The cambelt , tension belt and water pump was replaced 22,000 miles ago I was going to do the general bits filters spark plug oil ect .... I'd keep every receipt for parts that I've brought I only brought my car last sept and apparently it had a service but no stamp in the book just wanted it done for piece of mind so I know its done
