Ive been offered an obd2 vr6 engine without any ancillaries for a very good price, would fitting obd1 throttle body, loom and ecu work or are the actual engines obd1 and obd2 different??
-
Block and head are are interchangeable between OBD 1 and OBD2
-
I do remember reading that they are different and not so easy to swap over.
Likes of fuel rail ect.
Basically swap everything over. You can only use the head and block.
-
so if it is just head and block then its a case of finding all the obd1 bits. is there a list any where of what parts are needed for a vr6 conversion ive looked everywhere with varying answers? i know i need engine, gearbox, ecu, loom, hydraulic clutch parts, exhaust system, speedo.....
i know everyone will say dont build what you can buy but i spent 7 months rebuilding my gti and want a little bit more power now as ive got used to over 200bhp in my tt and 115 feels a bit slow.

Would I be right in thinking an obd1 head would have a hole for the dizzy?
-
There were dizzy and coilpack OBD1 engines. OBD2 were coilpack only.
