Long story short, my wife needs a new Laptop that will better suited to work stuff, read spreadsheets and word processing etc, so looking for a good all rounder, with a budget between £300-400 more dough is not an issue, just don't want to overspend unnecessarily, so gaming etc not too important, and I'm sure that what it comes with will suffice... So priorities are, a decent make/model, and good customer service and backup
Please don't blind me with specifications... I will fall asleep!
Thanks

That should destroy anything your wife can throw at it. It's just a shame most of these new laptops are being shipped with windows 8 because it's utter sh!te.

I bought a HP G6 back in October, can't fault it great laptop for what I need it for

The End.
Already got 2 Macbook Pro's, and Ipads, and not interested in doing the "Bootcamp" thing. She just needs something that would be more work orientated, and to be truthful, it pains me to buy anything other than an Apple product...
liking the suggestions so far, please keep them coming

Go and see what Staples have on offer, last time I looked they were doing all laptops with Windows 8 Pro installed.
Any other supplier you will need to make sure you have MS Office.

Just remember £300-£400 is a budget range laptop and you get what you pay for :lipsrsealed:

My mate picked up a Toshiba i7 for £700 fully loaded as he recieved there news emails when a sale goes on he picked the last two in stock for nothing as it was originally over a grand six months ago.
I suggest you wait for January sales Thom PC world start clearing out old laptops, but you gotta be fast to get the deals these days. Something in a i3 i5 range could be had for £400 odd, Sony usually have fire sales as do Toshiba ones.

my last 2 laptops ( going back some 8 years ) have been Toshibas.
They have had a LOT of abuse, thrown around a lot in holdalls etc
used for basic IT tasks and a lot of web usage.
Never had an issue with them,
Would suggest investigating a deal on one if you can find one to suit :afro:

Not for £300

Any reason why you didn't get this one off amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-350V5C-15-6-inch-Laptop-Silver/dp/B009SJCX5Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1357050993&sr=8-1
I was researching laptops for my sister and settled on the above (with Win7) from Argos. Short answer is the 3530E is based on tech from 2011 and the 350 from 2012. Though otherwise the same and pretty much capable.

Samsung is a good product and the only thing you might want to buy is a lap cooler with fans just to keep things cooler. The turbo app tends to throttle like my uncles and I find it needs regular blowing out with compressed air to keep it cooling better. Not a bad laptop I would rather stick win7 pro than win8 if it has no touch screen on it.
But thats a personal choice TBF.
