Title: Possible coolant leak from the n/s of block

Was snooping around today , and on the passengers side of the head , is a plastic housing which goes to a pipe which goes in the the car (poss heater matrix )

What I wanted to know is there a new gasket seal available for this part?

No noticeable leak yet but an see some crust around it.  So possibly catch it early or is it nothing ?

I do have a rubbish photo of it

replace the flange complete with seal. £5 ;)

if you are lucky the head doesn't look like cheese (if it does use liquid metal to fill)

Is it a euro car parts Job or dealer only ? Also got a vw part number for it ?

GSF or euro car parts will have this.
part number for 1.8 and 2.0 8v (and some 1.9D) engines is 026121144E unless it's an auto, then i think it ends in F

Thanks mate ordered up.  Bit annoying just changed the stat and  coolant looks like its having another change then /save it possibly :(

No need to change the coolant again.
Just open expansion tank cover to depressurise, next open clip that holds pipe on and move back on hose, place a small glass jar under the flange and pull hose back slowly, twist a bit so only bottom seeps. Drain until glass full, push hose on again.... empty jar into mineral water bottle (2L) repeat till no more comes out, about 1-1.5 liters.

Done it this way once with small amount of coolant loss.

Just hope the head isn't rotten !
