Title: golf 1993 1.4 temp guage faulty

hi guys

bought another mk3

the temp guage seems to only raise 2mm above the needle or it may not move at all

any ideas temp is actually fine

Sounds like a knackered temp sensor. Not expensive to fix and easy to fit.

No idea what the part number is, try euro carparts and type in your vrm into their search engine.

What do you mean temp seems OK? ;)

I bet it's not the sensor but thermostat. Does temp go up at all when you idle it for a few minutes?


I've posted a photo here before, it's from a different engine but temp sensor characteristics are same; just measure with Ohm meter (cheap 3£ ebay multi meter will do) (http://data.motor-talk.de/data/galleries/0/96/2436/49448415/temp-sensor-on-aam-716442293713747670.jpg)
If it matches this then sensor is fine.

I have done the thermostat first thing I tried by temp seems fine it dosnt run hot over heat etc
