Title: Continual Problem
Post by: Tazzy on 14 December 2012, 17:31
well ive had this problem for a while now, and everytime i think ive sorted it, i seem to of not have, ive spent alot of money on changing many parts from alot of different opinions and advice, well ive no more money to change anything else, this problem needs sorting

ive already changed the following...

Pipercross Air Panel Filter
NGK Spark Plugs
New Radiator
New Fuel Injection Pump Relay
New Fuel Pump
New Fuel Filter
New Mass Air Flow Sensor
New Crankshaft Sensor
New Lambda Sensor
New Thermostat
New Starter Motor
New ECU
New Clutch/Compression Plate/Thrust Bearing

the problem is that it wont rev past 4.5k rpm, it stuggle, which of course in fifth gear is 80mph

now today, it seems to of got worst, it now struggles at 3k rpm, which is an issue as im not going to be able to go on the motorway, cant really be doing 50mph now can i

what could it be? with numerous diagnostic readings, nothing is appearing, so it must be mechanical?

is it voltage? slipping clutch?

im out of ideas, its not like i redline it, mainly because i havnt been able to for a few years now, plus i live in birmingham, capital of traffic jams mainly because theres many re tards here that got their licenses from a cereal box :-)

1.8 20v non turbo

cheers ta, thanks very moochos

Was just about to ask the same, what engine?

This suggestion is pretty out there but could it be a very stretched throttle cable? Can you rev it higher if you manually move the TB yourself? (Assuming you have Drive By Cable)

Firstly have you used all genuine parts (genuine maf etc) as if you haven't you may have already changed what is causing the problem a new part which is also causing the problem as it doesnt work properly.

second i would say clean your throttle body and try rev it by hand if cable throttle.
