ok, some may have seen my post a few weeks ago.
basically, whilst my standard 2011 mk7 GTI 5dr DSG 12k was in (having warranty work) I was given a ed35 for a week.
ok, so not to repeat that post, long and short was didnt like ed25 at first, liked alot by the end.
SO, i did say as I had only had mine for 10 months and been very very happy with it, I am now considering looking to change to the ed35, purely for the following:-
1) sound - loved it
2) reversing camera (yes, ive been suckered by that)
3) ACC - the suspension settings being adjusted as and when you like made a big diff to me
4) leather/heated seats - quite liked it
5) sat/nav etc an added bonus but lose dynaudio :cry: :cry:
(also, does anyone o=know if the soundproofing is different in the ed35 ??? seemed much quieter (ie windnoise/tyre noise) especially on the motorway - maybe this is the 19's tyres being different ?? to my monzas
SO, should I be patient and let the finance finish in 8 months (i completely own the standard GTI then)
and then chose something ??
i rearly rearly wish i hadnt been loaned the ed35 :rolleyes:
Whats your advice fellas, opinions off here count alot as you all know what i am talking about rather than my missus just looking at nme as if i am a t??t :-)

Personally I'd wait for the finance to be fully paid and then wait for the mk7.

^^Ginge speaks the truth.
I would let the wow factor fade away then look to replace yours with a new GTI which timing wise won't be far off as they should be around towards the end of next year for sure.

I'm with Neil on this.
I don't like finance full stop, but at least pay for the car you have now before considering changing it. Rolling the debt over onto the next car will mean ultimately paying out more than you really need to.

I agree with the opinions here...in your situation I wouldn't say it's worth the change (as much as your heart loves it and won't want to hear that!)
The only way I'd consider it is if you got a hell of a deal to change.

the mk7 is far too close to launch to be buying a new GTI
pay the finance off, keep it another 18 months and the worst of the depreciation is passed then trade up for a mk7 if its any good.
by then all the early teething problems should have been sorted and you may be more likely to get a deal - its hard to get a deal on a sought after brand new model
my finance will be cleared very soon, which is always a good feeling to know you own the car outright.
once ive paid for the car i wont be in any hurry to get into another finance deal.

cheers fellas, i appreciate all the comments.
The finance outstanding on mine is only about 4.5k (only financed a small element of the purchase) rest was cash.
SO, the cost to change would be more or less reseting the finance amount, not particularly huge....
Add into the equation where the cars value will be in 18 months and there probably isnt a huge difference if you get me, so the loss would be reasonably small.
HOWEVER, I suppose i should wait untill after xmas and see if the want wheres off (i doubt it lol) I may even get a better deal next year iof i rearly rearly want one ? (trying to talk myself out of it :grin: :angry:)

i bet they have edition 35's left when the mk7 is available for order and then they will be desperate to get shot of them.
they must know this as its rare dealers ring round customers to try and sell them a car. it seems they're stuck with a lot of 35's as stock.
did VW make dealers buy x amount of cars as stock or something?

I thinkn they saw the 35 as their run out model and everybody would grab one but I think buyers are more savvy these days.
I bet the delaers were incentivised to take on so much volume - probalbly based ontheir turnover volumes.
Until we see the new GTI rather than concepts/press releases we don't know what we are comparing with so it's difficult to say until that time.
For the OP if your heart is in getting one and you can afford then go for it but don't beat yourself up when you see the Mk7 and realise that the cost to change just took a hefty rise, particularly when the dealers discount the remaining 35s which I think they did with the 30s a couple of years ago.

i agree with what your saying there yeah- if the OP really wants one then go for it. personally though i would wait for a while as theyre only going to get cheaper
i know what your saying though - every time i see an edition 30 i always regret not buying one when they were new. ive always preferred the look of them to the mk6 if im honest.
as the mk5 is basically the same as the mk6 it wasn't such an issue if you had the 'old' model
with the mk7 being so much revised though its a bit different - i think it would be a mistake going for a new mk6 at this moment without seeing what the mk7 is all about first.

your money, i was surprised how good the ed35 was, in reality the tsi in the mk7 at the moment isn't really getting me excited, when the s3 lump goes in then the mk7 will get my attention all be it i can see a M235 if they get the looks right

Actually VW lied last time and said they were only making a certain number of 30's and ended up producing 1000's more....

Potts' you shouldn't need to ask us what we think TBO you know which car you prefer.
For me it was a no brainer, I had the ED30 and the Mk6 at the same time and preferred the drive of the ED due to the engine which feels more exciting. So when the ED35 came out I just had to have this over the MK6.
Both cars are great it's just how you prefer the way they deliver the power. You may find you get a better deal now than you did with your MK6, I'd did hence the change to the CW ED35.
