When i got my GTD i noticed the steering wheel had the R badge instead of the GTD one and the plastic bits around the steering wheel are gloss black instead of silver, so i take it thats the R steering wheel. Anyone seen that before or have VW put the wrong one in? Im not complaining like it looks alot better, just curious.

Did you buy new or used?
I would assume used and the previous owner changed it
-
I bought it brand new
-
Make sure you were not charged for it?

:undecided:

Sounds like a mistake....

Yeah i was'nt charged for it either. If i remember correctly when it was mention to the dealer on picking the car up, he did'nt even know it was ment to say GTD, which says it all about my local VW
Sounds like a mistake....
Atleast its a good mistake

Sweet, just hope they stuck in 4wd too!!!!
-
That would really bug me cos it doesn't match anything!
-
How odd :undecided:
It sounds as if they forgot what they were assembling some where along the assembly line
-
I would be changing it....or getting the dealer to sort it out....

This is most odd - I wonder if someone picked up their new R and it had a GTD steering wheel  most disappointing.
-
i wouldnt like that on my car personally.
it would alway leave a doubt in my mind as to why it was wrong.
i once knew a lad with a fiesta which had a mazda 121 steering wheel - i told him his car had obviously had in air bag deployed as it was the wrong wheel - he didnt even realise the mazda badge wasnt a ford badge!

VW QC
Quite a few cars got through with either leather door panels or one leather door panel with cloth interior at the start.

True resale might make people things the airbags gone off and the wheel replaced, I would be suspicous as a buyer.
-
I'd get them to change it and tell them I wanted the R wheel as compensation and flog it.
-
I would be looking for some compensation from the dealer...
-
Although can they not just change the inserts?
-

Hmm VW must of changed other interior parts aswell because the silver on the GTD steering wheel would'nt match anything ive got in the car, its all gloss black
-
On the newer GTDs, the insert is black gloss with just the letters in silver as opposed to mine which is all silver.

I meant the R logo tbh, the black would look fine cos it's the same as the dash and door trim.

I remember my dealer had a R which had GTI wheel from the factory, they ordered an R wheel befor it was sold. I would get a GTD wheel fitted if it was mine.
