I have just fitted a FMIC to my AUM and I can now hear a very high pitch whistle.
I've done a search on here and some ppl refer to the spooling of the turbo as a whistle so I'm confused.
I have always been able to hear my turbo spooling(I love it) and the DV does a slight (dump/swoosh) but as I said its a very high pitch whistle.
Thort it was the radio at 1st poss electrical but it's only under boost/exceleration and defo coming from engine bay and not speakers lol.
Is it a boost leak or just the fact I can hear the turbo more because of the FMIC???
But as I said I have always been able to hear my turbo spooling and this is different.

Something isn't tight enough and your loosing boost....

Nice1 mate. Thort as much but just needed a second opinion. I'll get checking all clamps ASAP and hope its 1 of them rated than a burst hose somewhere.

When I fitted my forge FMIC could hear the turbo whistle slightly louder but could be a boost leak.
Is the FMIC still using the original charge pipe to pancake?

Right investigated this a bit more today and the noise is coming from the t.i.p/induction kit?
Removed the filter to see if that was the cause and the noise was still there coming out of the MAF sensor??
-
Any1 any idea??
-
Has any1 at all got any input.can it still be a boost leak cominf through my MAF/induction filter or is it just an extremly loud and anoying tubo whistle that ive never herd before????????
-
The MAF is in the pathway of the intake airflow - that's what your hearing from that area.
You might still have a boost leak - especially if you didn't hear it before installing the front mount.
I recommend checking all the joints or even getting a smoke test done at your local tuner, plus it serves as reassurance and cast away any doubts you may have.
-
just re reading to try and help, did you remove the DV at all and then reinstall the wrong way?
when its the right way you get the whoose/dump noise, when the 'wrong' way you get a loud chirp sound...

Thanks guys. Dv is in correct way as it still dumps nicely and can be heard through the filter the same as the whistle.
I have checked all joints of the fmic and every other boost pipes i can see and find but still cant find anything.
Strange thing is that i have just done a journy and the whistle wasnt there. Even though it has been there all day whistling away???

get a smoke/pressure test done as above, it's surprising where the leaks come from
