Title: New GTI owner
Post by: Walkerma75 on 12 December 2012, 20:22
So I finally own a GTi ever since I was able to drive I wanted one.

So when it came up on ebay I couldn't refuse, its a 1997 Mk3 GTi 2.0 - 154,000 miles on the clock, only an 8v but still fun and all for only £395!

Most things look OK, its got a bit of wear and tear and the reversing lights stay on sometimes, but I've ordered a new reversing light switch which I'm hoping will sort.

I'm thinking of restoration at present rather than modification, but it does have a strange stammering at 5,500 rpm's which id welcome any advice on, other than that its started on the key every day for the last two weeks and I've done about 480 miles it is so far and (touch wood) all seams good (apart from the stammering!)

Polishing is not a fun prospect in this weather, need to get the garage cleaned out so I can get her in there, then I can polish/work in more comfort.
