Right, passenger side window dropped all way down, I've managed to get it up, so that's good
the White clips on the mechanism have broken, the question is, would I need to buy a complete mechanism or can I purchase the White clips from vw seperately?
Thanks

You haven't said weather yours is 4 door or 2 door however take a look on ebay................
I have used 2 of these kits on my own car and done a mates with the same supplier,
They have all been spot on

He does sell just the clips and they are metal but I just replaced the lot

Hi
mine is a 4 door, I've been looking on eBay and I think I need these, eBay item number: 310408392906
and another thing is, how do I remove the silver/metal padding sort of thing, which covers the whole mechanism area,
Do I break off the 2 black rivets?
-
Use these instead, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-MK4-WINDOW-REGULATOR-REPAIR-KIT-METAL-FRONT-LEFT-NEW-/281004540848?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AGolf%7CPlat_Gen%3AMK+IV&hash=item416d2d03b0
They replace the plastic clips so it won't happen again

Yes mate, yes they do

The 3 black plastic things connect to the door module. You don't need to pop them back in as they are just for ease of assembly from the factory

Exactly the same thing happened to me last night driving home! was bloooooooooooody freezing.. managed to pull the window up from between the seals. and wedge it up till i can fix it at the weekend! :undecided:
-
Thanks for all the replys,
Ill get on to it. and "Martin now you know what to do and how to fix this" Good Luck
-
Although just to clarify.. do you have to take the handle/locking mechanism off to get the metal skin off? or can i leave all that sh!te attached?
Ill have to take the glass out completely.. it was just sat in the bottom of the door rattling around, so unsure if the clips have failed or just the glass has pulled out of them..
regardless.. its a ball ache either way
-
Another question is,
Can i just replace the broken white clips, with the new metal units or would i have to buy the complete kit, which has the reel for the mechanism and replace that also?
-
Wey this is what ive bought.. just to bolt back into place...
Item no. 300659681404
Maybe if i hadn't of tried to put the window down when it was frozen i wouldnt have this ball ache haha.. nevermind.. Joys of motoring

My window was at the bottom rattling, so I would advise that the clips have broken on yours too.
