I want to try a remap on my GTI, never tried anything like this before so need some advice if possible?
Firstly why do I want a remap? I find the GTI wanting for torque on occasions so would like some more, my fuel consumption is pretty poor, 26 - 31 with normal driving and finally the way the revs seem really slow to drop sometimes? This last point is probably the main reason.
So where do I go (within an hour of Cardiff ideally) and what exactly does it need and approx prices?
It is highly unlikely that I will change the exhaust or anything, may consider a different air intake/filter but otherwise would rather keep it standard other than a remap.

before you do anything I'd check whether your existing insurer will cover a remap as you will be looking around a 25% increase on stock figures

What about Got Boost in Bridgend buddy? Think they are a Revo Agent. Read somewhere there is 20% off at the moment too. Although you're looking at £500 with the discount.
Also there is Gwent VW in the Newport area. APR dealer I think, cost is about the same.
I've tried both brands on various VAGs over the years. Both very good and little difference really. Would suggest using the most reputable agent that is nearest you.
Cheers,
Chris

Both APR and Revo are offering 20% discounts on product at the mo, hence I have pulled my mapping forward a few months to Saturday, can't wait.
Stage 1 map sounds ideal for your requirements and doesn't need any additional hardware, from all the research I have read its a no brainer providing your insurer will play ball, I had to change to a specialist for my mods.
Good luck.
