Hi guys,
Got some new clear black indicators & fogs for my '97 MK3 Cab, as stated in the advert, straight swap push fit etc.
Got to putting the new ones back in when i see the 'push fit' connectors are different shape...have a look at the pic...
Also, there are 2 bare wires (the black & whites ones in the pic) coming off the new indicator, but i have no idea where i'm supposed to put link them to. :embarrassed: I'm pretty new to doing anything on cars tbh, so i just don't wanna get it wrong!
Anyone here able to shed some light on what i can do?
Thanks!!

Take the old bulbs out and put them in the new lights.
The wires are for side lights.
-
Thanks for that Tweed. Didn't think of doing that as the new bulbs are a bit different! I'm pretty sure i bought the right part lol
Also, those wires....shall i just black tape them up or snip them?
-
Tape the ends and cable tie them up  or wire them up to side lights.

hehe, ok, i've just tried to swap the bulbs and they don't fit.
The new orange bulbs have got an offset pin while the old holders are straight bayonet pins....
Now i've just had a look about on here and found a few bits on the subject, but it doesn't seem like i can get orange bulbs with a straight pin config, or am i missing something?? It feels like i'm being proper thick here
These are the 2 links i've been looking at:

Its a common problem, on late mk3s the plugs on the indicators changed to mk4 style plugs. No idea why
I chopped the plugs off a scrapper and solded them on to fix this problem. Or you could swap the headlight loom for a earlier loom.
As you have said there are two types of the bayonet connection for the bulb holder............
-
Just take the bulb holders from the old indicators and put them in the new lights you will need orange bulbs!
Also where did you get them from? I lost one of mine and need a replacement

This is what i did this morning to find the bulb bayonets don't fit the old holders. It's f***ing crazy just to get these things in, but trying to find orange bulbs with a straight bayonet fitting is just sending me mad!
The new indicators are these ones:

Ditto, when i installed the headlight loom with levellers onto my late 16v i had to do the same and cut the old indicator plugs off.

You need these
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-P21W-BA15s-382-12v-Amber-Orange-Indicator-Light-Car-Bulbs-Opposite-Pins-/270962564961?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f16a09f61
Old indicators have clear 382 bulbs with opposite pins
New indicators have orange 581 bulbs with offset pins
You need the orange 382 bulbs to get the old indicator holder to work properly in the new units.
