Title: Squeaky rear end
Post by: dave7268 on 08 December 2012, 14:28
Suggestions required because I am stumped

Had to get a new rear bumper fitted all thanks to someone crashing into our garden wall and the bricks then hit the rear of my bumper by the numberplate. Damage was only cosmetic but insurance company paid out for a new bumper to be fitted. Great job has been done on the replacement bumper and fit is spot on.

Only now, since I have had the car returned to me I am getting a squeaking noise coming from the rear of the car and it sounds like it is inside the boot area  :undecided:

It actually sounds like polystyrene rubbing together and it is so annoying. At first I thought it was the polystyrene holder that fits inside the spare wheel so I tightened it up - noise was still there. So I decided to remove everything from my boot including the spare wheel and parcel shelf and the noise became more noticeable. I dropped both rear seats and noise is still there!!! AAAGH!!!

Bounced and shook the rear of the car and the noise doesn't happen - only when I drive above 5 mph do I get the noise.

Anyone got any suggestions... am I missing the obvious?

Haven't checked the bumps stops - will have a look at them tomorrow.

Doc, I'm in Stoneycroft in Liverpool if you are ever passing that way
