Right, Basically I have the opportunity to take on a storage yard. It would be useful for me to put my cars in at least but my idea is to offer the rest of the space out to others who, like me, don't have the space at home for their car/camper/whatever. If you'd be so kind could you answer the below questions so i can get an idea of its viability?
1. Would you pay to store your car in a secure, secluded and fenced yard?
2. How much do you feel would be a fair price for this facility?
3. Would you pay extra for other services such as covers and storage maintanence (battery conditioning, running up and such)
4. If you were to store your vehicle would a collection/delivery service be useful?
5. How much would you pay for the extras?
6. Any other suggestions or feedback?
Thanks in advance!

first and most likely question you might get asked Jord.
Will the premises be insured , as most people storing cars arent liable to have insurance on the vehicles in question.
and the minefield is now open

No, i've found monst of the facilities i've checked out for myself insure the premises incase of fires and that, but not the vehicles, thats the owners responsibility

1. YES! If the price is right and it's got decent access and security, and it's local.
2. Don't know, but depending on type of storage and location, from £5 - £20 per week?
3. Not really, I'd like to keep my own keys and do my own car maintenance. I'd just want the space.
4. Again, no, I keep the keys, I drive my car. It's local after all right?
5. As above, I wouldn't be interested in extras.
6. Best of luck!

Personally i do beleave its a great idea however, if i thought for one moment tht my car was not insured while its in storeage then forget it, id also feel better if you had like a membership card to swipe in and out for access, and 24 hour HDCCTV.
Extra i would personally pay for would be for things like access to tools (save me bring my own) 24 hous access, well lit areas within cover (for any late night mods i wanted to do) stuff like that.

Yes
2. How much do you feel would be a fair price for this facility?
£50 a month
3. Would you pay extra for other services such as covers and storage maintanence (battery conditioning, running up and such)
I am tight, so probably not
4. If you were to store your vehicle would a collection/delivery service be useful?
Possibly, or at least a "run you back home" service
5. How much would you pay for the extras?
taxi rates for the life home?
6. Any other suggestions or feedback?
Would pay more for access to power, possibly a covered area where you could work on a car in the evening.
when you say that it is secure, would that be a guarantee? i guess if it is 100% secure you could charge rather a lot

its a tricky one. involved with something simalar up this end.
as with everything involving customers the customers themselves are the biggest problem. inside under cover storage fetches good money. the profit is with the proper big money classics not your average enthusiast.
letting customers into the shed is a BIG NO NO they can walk round under supervision, they defantly cannot drive there cars in the shed or work on them.
a ramp they can use by appointment is full of win however, renting them hand tools is full of fail. charging them to fix there cars whie they helpget in the way is full of win.
haveing a heap of batteries for sale is full of win
haveing fuel avalible. espectaly 20ltr drums of proper 4* sold by the drum is full of win
transport / recovery can offer much profit
you need a LOT of cars to be stored with you to make it worth doing imo. insurance premium is absolute BUM RAPE as for profit it dosent make much for me but it pays in perks and i don't actualy do any work to do with it  chould make quite reasonable money if did teh work yourself

1. Would you pay to store your car in a secure, secluded and fenced yard?
Yes I would.
2. How much do you feel would be a fair price for this facility?
Depends if it was a covered area within, so £30-40 if not, £50-60 if so, and possibly slightly more for things listed below.
3. Would you pay extra for other services such as covers and storage maintanence (battery conditioning, running up and such)
Yes to covers, personally I'd prefer to to run up the car myself, but I'm sure others would be happy for you to do it.
4. If you were to store your vehicle would a collection/delivery service be useful?
Would deffo make it more appealing to those that have the car/van or whatever sorn if it was on the back of a flatbed or something, and can be taken to your site at a competative price. But otherwise its probably not worth it. I'd be wary of driving other peoples car that were going to/coming out of possibly long term storage. Probably not worth the hassle mate.
5. How much would you pay for the extras?
Covers, maybe an extra £5 a month, undercover area as previously stated significantly more. Power supplies extra again. Not so much need for tools tbh, but a decent area for working on it would be awsome and would give you that little bit extra too!
6. Any other suggestions or feedback?
Again, good luck with it. It depends how much you want to invest at the outset and if you think its viable in the long term, but I'm sure all these sort of things have been flying around your head already! Remember, you can rent a garage for around £50 pcm so you need to offer more for it to appeal.
