Title: alloys
Post by: [han] on 19 July 2005, 10:33
i know that i've asked this before, but i can't find my thread...
does anyone know which alloys i can buy that i can declare as standard on a mk2 driver 1991... i'm prepared to buy some if not - can bump up my premium at crimbo with 2yrs ncb!
anyone got any suggestions as to what would suit my car, and are not that expensive.. living on a student budget here! thanks

as a driver han there isnt really any alloys that were standard fitment... but u could go for gti wheels be it p-slots or castellets or standard 16v gti rims or even bbs.. there is a choice but to insurance companies alloys are alloys!

You could go for a set of G60 steelies. I think there really nice for steelies and suite a mk2. Wont affect y insurance either.

Depends who your insured with really a few don't mind alloys on your car don't think drivers came with alloys but P-slots, BBS etc should look nice and original.

i can't do it til dec anyway, as i will have two years ncb, and i can then change insurer as directline won't insure me with alloys.... as for steelies i like mine, but its a shame theyre rusty.. always got my options open... some nice ones will be sweet as.... just like me!
kings can u mail me some pics so i know what they look like then i can decide.... mmmmmmmmm
also lookin for big bumpers.. colour coded if possible.

Yup sure do IMO tooooooo risky not to,it's sods law that you're more like to have an accident ( even if it's not your fault ,and knowing what insurance companies are like , they'll try and get out of paying up any way they can  ) if you don't.

I have in my posession a set of 5 14" VW Zandvoort alloys (www.vintagewatercooleds.com for pics). Been gonna ebay em for weeks, but can't be arsed to be honest! They're in excellent nick with good tyres (appart from the spare 5th). Could be yours for a modest fee!!!
